I had to think about this one a while, because it's not really any one thing. I remember when my friends and I were younger and they just came out we thought it was so fascinating that these guys just up and decided to drop everything and be rock stars - it would be like if your parents or neighbor or the cashier at the grocery store was suddenly on MTV and we thought it was so different and awesome. We also liked that their songs weren't all about happy, peppy things but sometimes sad things and everyday things and some creepy things and stuff I'm even now not too sure about (lol). I find that as I get older I appreciate the music more and more and the work and detail that goes into it. They seem to make it so it's accessable to everyone while still keeping it personal for themselves, if that makes sense. Each album seems to get better and more interesting and I love that they keep doing it and are able to keep them fresh and exciting: like nothing else and yet still Pet Shop Boys.
That having been said, I'm a Neil "lover" - in as much as it's possible to love someone you don't know. (I don't believe you can, really.) But he does fascinate me and I love to read/watch interviews with him and wonder what makes him tick. I love his talent and the way he puts so much of himself into his work, or is crafty enough to make us think so. I've always thought him incredibly handsome and still do. He was absurdly sweet to me when I met him so I'm probably even more smitten than before. I almost wish he'd done something awful so I could be over him -- 20 years is a long time to be pining for someone! (I can assure you my husband doesn't appreciate it either, hahaha!)
I'm not in love with anyone, but my favourite Boy is Chris. I love their music a lot. I like Chris a lot because he's a kind person and quite funny. I hope I'll meet him one day.

I absolutely love their music, but I don't think I would be such a big fan if I didn't think so warmly about them. I'm not really in love with either of them, but I'm really fond of Neil... and sometimes just as fond of Chris. I guess I would have become a fan earlier on if I had known how wonderful people they are!!
