I read so many books that it would be hard to pick just one favorite, but two of my all-time favorites are both by John Irving: A Prayer for Owen Meany and The Cider House Rules which I re-read every year or so.
Maybe we should break it down into categories, like: funniest, saddest, scariest book?

Reading some fun books lately by Madeleine Wickham (who also writes as Sophie Kinsella.) The odd thing is I don't like her "Sophie Kinsella" books AT ALL. (The Sophie Kinsella books are best known, being the "Shopaholic" series.) I read one of those and threw it across the room and screamed "ARRRGH!" What a stupid, vapid, unsympathetic, completely unrealistic character! I couldn't relate at all! "Doop de doo! I'm a ding bat who can't think about money so I'll just spend whatever I want until a man comes along and bails me out!" What the ????
The Wickham books have a hint of this but the women have a businesslike acumen about it at least, lol. And there is love involved at least. OR IS THERE? Maybe, or not. You have to read it to find out. They're way more fun.
